so hot

It's been a week since I got back from my vacation and my doglike cough is still making it hard for me to work. Shanghai is stinking hot these days. How i wish I can wear shorts or short skirts to work.

I just remembered since it's hot I want to feature one of my good college friend. She's in Beijing now working for a mnc company. She's really an interesting person. We are just different in a lot of ways but we really get a long very well together. She's ur cosmo chic. Prim and proper with whatever a girl is supposed to be. How i wish I can just have a tinge of her femininity. She tries to supply me to read on girl magazine because Im just too square. Im amazed on how she always easily get the guys she like under her spell.....Maybe because she's a great cook, great in housekeeping, very caring (even to my brothers, my brothers just love her when they stayed in her place when they were in Beijing). She's been through a lot too even at a very young age. I admire how she was able to carry on a very normal life now despite her turbulent past. She doesnt let her past stop her from fulfilling what she wants to do in life. Sometimes she has to disagree and disobey her parents to fulfil these things. Isn't it just too hot to have her as a friend? hehehe!

I cherish her friendship. We are cities apart but our friendship is still growing and being nurtured each day. I wish the best for you Aileen. U have a great life ahead of u. I miss u!!!

eclectic dad

Vacation is almost over for me. I had so much fun with Asel. I'm happy she's my first foreign tourist and I hope I did gave a nice impression of the Philippines.

We went food tripping, diving, wading in the beach, reading our books, chatting, feeling the provincial wind breeze to our faces, swam and went to try hot yoga. I just love the memory of a more laid back life here in the PHilippines with the warm smiles of fellow filipinos. I just love the hospitality, warmth and service which i'm kinda deprived of when in China.

I met a very interesting person and I think it is worth sharing his profile here in my blog. Mr. Won (owner of the resort in Moal Boal, Cebu) where we stayed. He is the dad of my korean friend, Chae. I have heard about him from our common friends but meeting him and spending some time with him made me say he's one 'cool' dad and really loves what he is doing.

15 yrs ago he came to the Philippines and fell in love in my motherland. After spending one week diving in the waters of Bohol, when they got back to Korea, he decided after one week that they will be moving here in the PHilippines for good. He's got a couple of dive resorts (puerto galera, 2 in cebu, 1 in negros and soon in palawan). He was decisive in leaving his comfort zone and do the thing he loved doing. He is very cheerful and loves the songs in the 70s. While we were eating our ever delicious kimchi appetizer, bulgogi, and kimchi soup, he was singing along the music that was being played. He shared to us what it was like during the 'hippie' days. :P

Ultimately, he has a music room/studio in his resort and that night, he was playing the drums and guitar. I asked permission if I can take pictures of him. I dont really know much about playing guitars but I can say he must have played really well. His fingers were strumming the strings vigorously and the music that came out was "clean" and "smooth." There wasnt any piece that he looked into for reference. He simply played by heart.

It is not common to find people like Mr. Won. Free spirited, risk taker, always trying new things, very considerate, kind and cheerfully optimistic. I wanted to put in here the video of his encore that night...but I dont know how to put a video file. Maybe next time. I'm sure Chae is very fortunate to have such a one of a kind dad. :D
